About UP-TEX
The UP-tex Cluster is an association of companies, research and tech transfer centres that have been approved as a Competition Cluster by the French State. By 2015, the Cluster's aim is to become a European benchmark in the field of Advanced Textile Materials, Polysensoriality, Design and Mass Customisation.
The Cluster's goal is to federate the best competencies for preparing and optimising projects, place textiles at the heart of the materials of tomorrow through innovative applications, speed up the development of markets and activities linked to Advanced Textile Materials, foster the development of innovation at scientific, technological and industrial levels.

About ENSMD
Ecole des Mines de Douai (EMD) is a French "Grande Ecole", National Institute for Science and Technology. EMD is a public organisation whose missions are the education of multidisciplinary engineers, adult vocational training for the needs of Industry and Administration, the education of high level specialized people (engineers, specialized masters, professional masters, research masters, PhDs), fundamental and applied research and technology transfer, company creation.
Research areas related to textile composites cover :
- processing of polymers and particle-reinforced polymers (with fillers, chopped fibers, nano-particles): experimental analysis, characterization and control of phenomena involved during manufacturing by injection moulding, (co-)extrusion moulding, thermoforming and rotational molding, with integration of sensors in machines and tooling (sensing & knowledge of phenomena generating quality and/or defects, auto-adaptive process control, parts design, manufacturing and use optimization ...),
- processing of structural organic composite materials reinforced with continuous fibers: experimental analysis, modelling, simulation and active control of coupled phenomena involved during manufacturing, in particular for LCM (Liquid Composite Moulding) processes and automated fiber placement (flow, heat transfer, resin thermo-kinetics, deformation of fibrous media and foam inserts ...),
- structural mechanics applied to metallic, organic or hybrid materials (stochastic-mechanics/reliability, creep, fatigue, fracture mechanics, micro-mechanics, residual stresses ...): implementation of analytical or numerical models and associated computational methods tools (visco-elasto-plasticity, cohesion or stochastic finite elements, crack-blocks ...) coupled to experimental validations (techniques based on ultrasound, acoustic emission, infrared thermometry ...),
with a particular attention transversally drawn on :
- sustainable growth (materials produced from renewable resources such as bioplastics, biofibers/biotextiles, processes with low environmental impact, eco-design, recycling of production scraps and end-of-life valorization ...)

About ENSAIT
Founded in 1889, the « Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Industries Textiles » trains more than 70% of French Master level textile engineers and as such is Europe's top institution for textile training.
ENSAIT first trains general engineers who then specialize in on of the following key areas :
- Technical Textiles and Advanced Materials
- Distribution Design and Management
Research is a driving force at the ENSAIT. The ENSAIT hosts the GEMTEX which ranks first amongst the French University Textile Research Laboratories. At the ENSAIT, the majority of teachers are reasearchers, and their research work enables them to establish important partnership with highly regarded companies (Airbus Industry, Lacoste, L'Oréal, Lectra, BASF, Oxbow, Louis Vuitton, Alstom, Bombardier, Unilever, Michelin,...

About CLUBTEX
CLUBTEX champions the Technical Textile sector and, in France, is the benchmark for the development of innovative textiles.
CLUBTEX (Association by the Law 1901) was created in 1989 by the industrialists themselves, to organize joint business trips and to monitor the innovative textile market.
Today, its sphere of activity concerns developing the Technical Textile sector in the broadest sense: innovation, development of new markets, new applications, monitoring, training, promotion...

About SKYWIN
Skywin Wallonie is the Aerospace Cluster of the Walloon Region of Belgium. Created in 2006 in order to increase the competitiveness of Walloon enterprises in the Aeronautics and Space sectors, Skywin represents about 100 industrial members as well as universities and dedicated research centers. This represents a total of more than 7,000 direct jobs in the region for 1.25 billion Euros turnover. Skywin gathers several major regional players like Alcatel Alenia Space, FN Herstal, Forges de Zeebrugge, Sabca, Sonaca, Spacebel, Techspace Aero , Thales Communication Belgium as well as numerous innovative SME's working in engines, structures, systems and equipment technologies. Members activities consist of R&D, design, virtual prototyping, manufacturing, MRO and upgrades of airplanes, helicopters, UAV, engines sub-assemblies or rocket components and space equipments and related services.
Skywin's objective is to foster and promote the technological advance of the Walloon Region in the Aerospace sector and therefore to supply competitive products and services which are the mainstay of business development.
Strongly oriented toward industrial projects and benefits, Skywin activities can be categorized into 3 orientations, Innovation Projects, Clustering activities, International business development.
